Blogging Photos Using Flickr

FOR WORDPRESS — If you’re a photo blogger, or a person who blogs a photo regularly, this is for you. If you already have a Flickr account, you’re ready to go. If not, go get one; it’s well worth your time if you’re into photos. So here’s a way to easily blog your photos, and after the initial setup, you never have to login to Flickr again!

You have two options. You can send a photo and message to your blog from within Flickr (better if you like to see everything and make sure nothing’s getting messed up ““ but I assure you, I’ve been blogging this way for a long time and had ““zero”“ trouble). You can also send a photo using a secure email address. I like this because I never have to go to Flickr and I can kill two birds with one stone by blogging the photo AND adding my photo to my Flickr account at once.

Blogging a photo from within Flickr

Go to “Your Account”. Scroll down and you should see a link for “Your Blogs”

Set up a new blog…

choose Wordpress from the dropdown menu

Enter: http://yourdomain.com/xmlrpc.php and your name and password, then NEXT

Verify everything and say ALL DONE

OPTIONAL — click “create a custom posting template”

Choose a template

Click CUSTOMIZE

Now, change the code to make the blog post appear the way you would like it to look once it gets posted to your blog. You can preview it before you save.

Now to blog the photo, just find the photo you want to blog and use the “BLOG THIS” option at the top of the photo. Type your message in the description box and send!

Blogging a photo via email

Under “Your Account” click on “Uploading photos to your blog by email”

Choose the size photo you want to blog and say YES to the question below the thumbnails

Click SAVE and they will give you your secret email address to send to

Now, attach a photo to an email message and type your blog text into the body of the email.

NOTE — If you want to send to your blog AND to flickr, there is a separate email address for that at the bottom. The email address at the top will only send to your blog, but will still use the flickr formatting.

Note: I wrote this up a few weeks ago when I was still on Wordpress, so for TXP users, it won’t work, but they support others like Blogger, Typepad, etc.
