The “Pink for October](http://pinkforoctober.org/ theme is going up early. Looking at my schedule for this week, I’ve got so much going on (including writing about breast cancer) I just know I’ll forget to put it up on time to have time to tweak it, so I’m doing it today to get it out of the way. There will be a lot of other people to be on the lookout for too, so check out the Pink for October site for more information about the event and how you can participate if you’re not already!

Surprisingly not as pink as I thought it’d be but much, much better!

Yeah it was a lot more pink a few weeks ago, but I had to tone it down. I can’t wait to see what everyone else is going to do. There are some really cool 9rulers who got involved too, so that should be fun!

Very nice natalie, I like it! More than the other design I think! WIll you keep it after October?
Natalie left a comment on September 25, 2006 at 8:28 pm | #
Oh, you’ll get tired of it soon. :) Thank you though, I like it too ““ for now. I’ll see how I feel in about 3 weeks, see if I feel like designing something new, putting up the old, or leaving this one and remove the October reference. Eh, I don’t know.

Different than I expected and much nicer. BTW, do you know of an organization that deals with breast cancer that doesn’t support Planned Parenthood or embryonic stem-cell research? Since there is a link between abortion and breast cancer and every test for the last 23 years that used embryonic stem-cells resulted in tumors, I’d like to know that money I give is actually being used for breast cancer research or to help those that have breast cancer.

Hi, Tanny. You know, I suppose I haven’t thought a lot about what else breast cancer foundations support. Maybe I should, I don’t know. I’ve supported Susan G. Komen through general donations and cancer walks. If you find a better organization, or know of specific organizations we should not be supporting, please let us know.

Oh, NatalieI love the textures! What’s that gorgeous font in the header?I’m inspired now to try and get one done in, say, 3 days ;)

Reese, thanks! Textures are one of those things that just takes so much time to get right I’ve never bothered but for clients, and only when they’re up to paying for the extra care needed for that.
That font is a beautiful one called Bickham Script Pro which I’ve used for another client/friend, Mary Yerkes. I remember at one point we looked at nearly 10 different fonts and we both liked BSP the best. The above link will take you to Veer, but I believe I got my copy in a package with Adobe or Corel, or some other software package, so check to see if you have it somewhere already before you buy it. It’s a good one to have in your collection. In fact, I was surprised to see Cameron Moll list it as a font you can’t get fired for using. :)

OOOOhhhhh Very nice I LOVE the new pink look. I haven’t started mine, but I want to in the near future. The problem is my wife just had a baby and it looks like my time just went down the toilet. (or diaper is perhaps a bit more appropriate) :-)

LOL! It’s funny how your wife had a baby (alone it sounds like) and your time is gone. :) I’ll tell you, as a mother, it sure does feel like we’re the only ones having babies, although we hope our husbands take some responsibility there too. There are some decent pink themes out there, maybe you can just grab one since it’s only for a month anyway. Only crazy obsessive designers like me have to go to all the trouble to create something totally new for something like this. :)

Fair enough. We had a baby (although she was the only one pushing a person out of her body)… Our time is now taken up with other important issues. Thankfully I am taking 2 weeks off from work to be home with the two of them. I’m pretty sure I won’t be able to just go grab a design. I’ll probably just change my to pink instead of totoally redesigning a new one

That’s great, Brian. I hope you didn’t take offense to my comment. I think it’s great that you’re able to take time off when so many fathers aren’t able to.

No, of course no offense was taken. I know you better than that
Seeing that I only have a few days left, I need to get going on that PINK!
