Print Magazine: Cover Girls
Initially I was attracted to the font used in the old book, particularly "Seventeenth" but as I read the accompanying article, I thought it worth posting in the Print section because it's a good read all around. I particularly enjoyed reading about Sweet Valley High, which I used to read as a teen, and for whose updated cover an actress from my favorite soap posed for.
Publishers face a conundrum: The high literary value of the best of these books aside, how can they help a YA novel speak to the latest group of teen readers, across generations, cultural shifts, and trends? Simple: They redesign the cover.
